How to Spot a FiveM Script Reseller Before You Pay (2026)
Three checks that tell you whether a FiveM store sells its own scripts or resells other people's. With a worked example: RPScripts, formerly FiveMX, and the JG Scripts and Gabz listings on it.

Every month someone opens a ticket on our Discord with a script that will not start, and the receipt is from a store that does not belong to the creator named on the listing. They paid real money. The developer who wrote the script never saw it. And the files on their server are whatever the reseller put in the zip.
This guide is the check we wish they had run first. It takes thirty seconds, and it works for any FiveM script, map, vehicle pack or server pack.
Quick Answer: Before you pay for a FiveM script, check three things. The checkout is Tebex or the Cfx.re portal, not the store's own cart. The creator named on the listing actually sells there (search their name, open their store, compare). The developers are reachable on Discord and publish a changelog. A store that fails all three is reselling other people's work, and you have no updates, no support and no way to know what is in the files.
The three checks
1. Where is the checkout?
Creators who build FiveM scripts sell through Tebex or the Cfx.re portal, because those are the only two routes that support Cfx.re asset escrow. Escrow ties the files to the Cfx.re key of the server that bought them. That is how a creator ships an update to you without shipping their source to everyone.
A store with its own cart, paying through Stripe or PayPal with an "instant download" button, cannot deliver escrowed files. So whatever it delivers is either an unlocked copy, an old open-source version, or something else entirely. The checkout tells you this before you read a word of the description.
2. Does the named creator sell there?
Resellers put the real creator's name on the listing because the name is what sells. Take that name, search it, and open the creator's own store. If the creator's store does not mention the reseller, the reseller is not authorised. Creators who allow a third party to sell their work say so, because it is good for them.
Compare the price while you are there. A listing that undercuts the creator by 25% on the same product is not a sale. The reseller has no cost of development to recover.
3. Are the developers reachable?
A creator has a Discord where the people who wrote the code answer tickets. A public changelog. Documentation. Usually a showcase server where you can test before paying. A reseller has a contact email and a "technical guarantee", because they cannot fix code they did not write, and they cannot ship the next version because they do not have it.
Why it matters more than the money
The price is the smallest loss.
- No updates. FiveM artifacts, frameworks and dependencies move every month. A script frozen at the version someone dumped last year breaks the first time ox_lib or your framework updates. The creator's customers get the fix. You get a support email that does not answer.
- No way to audit the files. A server pack with 136 resources is 136 places to hide a backdoor. Unlocked and decrypted scripts are the single most common way malicious code gets onto new FiveM servers. The creator's escrowed copy cannot be modified. The reseller's zip can.
- The creator stops making the thing you liked. Every sale that goes to a reseller is a sale the developer did not get. The small studios that make the best FiveM scripts run on thin margins, and resellers are the reason some of them close.
A worked example: RPScripts, formerly FiveMX, formerly fivem-mods.net
We are naming one store because every fact below is on the store's own pages. Screenshots were taken on October 26, 2026.
The name changes
fivemx.com now shows a single page: "FiveMX is now RPScripts. The shop, your purchases and downloads moved to rpscripts.net."
fivemx.com in October 2026: a notice that FiveMX is now RPScripts, with purchases and downloads moved to rpscripts.net
The Trustpilot profile for the previous domain, fivem-mods.net, sits at 2.3 out of 5 with 43% one-star reviews. Reviewers list the earlier names the store has used: fivem-mod, beatfivem, hifivem. Their words, not ours: "selling leaked and old scripts", "download link does not exist", "support email address does not exist", "money-back guarantee, no refund". The store has not replied to a single negative review.
A store that changes its name every time the reviews catch up with it is telling you what it expects to happen next.
JG HUD, $30 on RPScripts, $40 on jgscripts.com
RPScripts lists JG HUD at $30, discounted to $27 at checkout, "Creator: JG Scripts", paid through Stripe, instant download. The listing says "bought 22 times in the last 12 months".
RPScripts listing for JG HUD at $30 with JG Scripts named as the creator and a Stripe checkout
JG Scripts sells HUD on their own store for $40.04 at the time of writing, through Tebex, "Protected by Cfx.re asset escrow". JG does not sell through RPScripts and does not list them as a partner.
Escrowed files only run on the Cfx.re key that bought them. Whatever is in the RPScripts download, it is not the product JG Scripts ships, and JG will never update it.
Gabz lore-friendly cars, $15 on RPScripts
The same pattern. RPScripts lists Gabz 60+ NEW Lore-Friendly Cars at $15, "Creator: Gabz", bought 44 times in the last 12 months. The listing's own licence line says "for your own FiveM server or project. No resale or sharing."
RPScripts listing for Gabz lore-friendly vehicles at $15 with Gabz named as the creator
Gabz sells their vehicle packs only on their own Tebex store. The reseller forbidding resale of a product they are reselling is the whole business model in one sentence.
What a creator store looks like
Run the three checks on any store you are about to pay, including ours. This is what passing looks like:
- Checkout: Tebex, with Cfx.re asset escrow delivery. The Meteo V2 Package and every individual script go through it.
- The creator sells there: the store and the developer are the same people. The scripts are written by the Meteo team and sold nowhere else.
- Reachable developers: a Discord where the developers answer tickets, a public changelog for every release, documentation for every script, and a free showcase server where you test everything before you pay.
If a store you are looking at passes all three, buy with confidence, from them or from anyone else who passes. If it fails one, close the tab.
If you already bought from a reseller
- Do not put the files on a live server. Spin up a local test server and treat the zip as untrusted.
- If you paid by card within the last few months, a chargeback for "goods not as described" usually succeeds, because the listing named a creator who did not supply the goods.
- Message the real creator. Most will not give you a free copy, but they will tell you what is safe to run and what is not, and the price of the real thing is usually close to what you already paid.
- If you want a package of scripts that already work together, the beginner guide to starting a FiveM server covers both paths, and the premade packages comparison covers what to look for.
